Slip, Trip and Fall Accidents
Suffered a slip or a trip? Recovery Assist Solicitors can help.
Such accidents are extremely common and they can happen anytime day or night.
Injuries may range from a bruised knee or sprained wrist to something much more serious.
You may have a claim if you have been injured tripping over a raised paving slab or other defect in a footpath. If the incident happened in a public place your claim will usually be against the Highway Authority (the local council). The claim is dependent on a number of factors:
- The defect must be significant, usually at least 25mm.
- The council may have a defence to your claim if they can show a system of inspecting regularly for defects and prove that there was no defect at the last inspection.
- Recovery Assist Solicitors can investigate your claim in detail and we can examine all documentation disclosed by the Council.
What should you do if you have been injured in a tripping accident?

- If your accident occurred in the street, take some photographs and measurements of the defect and the general location of the defect.
- Identify the exact location i.e. the street name a house number or street lamp identification number.
- Prepare a detailed sketch plan of the incident. This should clearly show the location of the accident, the defect and any warning signs present. Also this should show any other relevant information such as location of any witnesses.
- Obtain contact details for any witnesses to the accident.
- Keep a list of all expenses which you incur and hold onto any receipts.
- You should seek legal advice from Recovery Assist Solicitors immediately.
